Relationship of Water and The Spirit In the New Covenant, Baptism is a reflection of creation itself. In the creation, earth was made of water by the spirit. So then, God, in this New Covenant, will restore creation by the very element and entity that made the creation in the first place. let's firstly read John 3,5 "Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit he cannot enter into the kingdom of God." So that we know this is actually talking about Baptism, let's take the context. In this verse, Jesus is talking to Nicodemos, and at the end of his dialogue with him, Jesus went to Judea and baptized people, now why is this important? John is the ONLY gospel writer that ever mentions Jesus baptizing people, and he does so right after writing the dialogue of Jesus seen above, which mentions being born of water and the Spirit.
